The Unitree G1 EDU U8 combines the G1 EDU platform(29DOF) with BrainCo Revo2 Touch five-finger dexterous hands. Built for universities, robotics labs, and embodied AI teams, this configuration provides a platform for exploring whole-body coordination, tactile grasping, and human-like manipulation.
BrainCo Revo2 Touch: Dexterity with a Sense of Touch
Multi-dimensional fingertip sensing provides contact feedback for developing touch-guided grasping and adaptive manipulation. Researchers can use this feedback to study how a robot responds when an object makes contact or shifts within its grasp.
- Articulated five-finger design: 11 degrees of freedom with 6 active joints per hand.
- Grasping performance: Full-hand grip force ≥50 N and pinch force ≥15 N.
- Fast, repeatable motion: Finger flexion/extension time ≤0.65 seconds and repeat control precision of 0.1°.
- Compact construction: Approximately 383 g per hand, excluding the wrist.
- Feedback control: Position, velocity, and current feedback, with compliance control and tactile adaptive control.
A Platform for Robotics Development
The G1 EDU platform supports secondary development and includes a depth camera and 3D LiDAR. Combined with tactile dexterous hands, it offers a foundation for developing coordinated perception, movement, and manipulation workflows.
Revo2 Touch supports RS485, CAN FD, and EtherCAT, with Python and C/C++ development resources and support for Linux, Windows, and ROS workflows.
Research Applications
- Tactile grasping and object manipulation
- Bimanual coordination and whole-body manipulation
- Teleoperation and demonstration data collection
- Imitation learning and reinforcement learning experiments
Research applications require suitable software development and integration. Hand specifications are per hand; allowable object loads depend on the G1 arm configuration and posture.
